My name is Sabrina Burcroff and I am a recent graduate from Grand Valley State University. I obtained two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Education and English Language Arts, and also two minors in Elementary Education and Psychology. I am Currently living in Canton, Michigan and substitute teaching in various districts around the area.
I come from a family of teachers, but through volunteering, I had one student in particular that I was mentoring that inspired me to become a teacher so that I can help children become the best that they can in life.
Inspirations Why I Teach
During my Sophomore year in college, I was volunteering with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization when I began mentoring a 5th grade girl. We started meeting and at first would play games and complete her homework. Once we began to know each other better, she started to open up about her home life. Some things she told me were hard to hear and I could not believe what she was going through. One night upon reflecting on our session, I realized I wanted to become an educator to provide a happy, safe, and stable environment for children to be able to come to everyday. I knew I was meant to make a difference in the world, and this little girl had forever changed my life.

During my last semester of Student Teaching, these kindergarten students inspired me each and everyday to make sure that I was the best educator possible for them! This is our performance I helped to coordinate that was done in front of the whole school about how to be Proactive and to be a good friend.

A student perspective that gives an inspirational pep talk for teachers and students.
